In 1972 Peter and Susan Risser formed San Juan Canvas Company and for more than 30 years crafted many a sail and canvas works out of the 'little hole in the wall by the sea', which is now located just under the San Juan Island Yacht Club. The Risser's built a solid reputation for high quality canvas, as well as being one of the friendliest shops around, welcoming many a wayward sailor into the shop to shoot the breeze. After more than 32 years at San Juan Canvas Company, the Risser's passed the seam ripper in 2006 to new owners. The Pillsbury's ~ Patrick, Andra with three crew in tow and the guidance of the Risser's are operating what is the longest standing business to remain at one location in Friday Harbor. Continued emphasis on quality and craftsmanship, and community goodwill remains the focus at the San Juan Canvas, we're eager to please! Along with Patrick and Andra, two gifted and light hearted sew hands, Connie and Meaghan, as well as the ever needed Bruce continue to produce well thought out, and nicely crafted canvas works.
